Born on 26th Aug.1976, Sonepat's prodigal son Rajesh Chauhan played for the Air India in the domestic circuit after playing for Haryana in his formative years. He is a product of Haryana's tiny town Sonepat's CRZ School, where well known coach Narender Gautam spotted and polished him.

The talented forward made his international debut at the 1995 Pre-African Games and then knocked the doors of senior national teams often. He has played the high-voltage India-Pakistan Test Series in 1998 and the same year the World Cup at The Netherlands. Moscow Olympics captain Vasudevan Baskaran was the coach for these tournaments.

He was also one of the coaches when India played the Jr World Cup in 2009 and for Sultan of Azlan Shah Cup a year early, among many others.

Short, but athletic Rajesh played in many foreign clubs including in France and the States. He set up a school hockey academy in Delhi which won most of the State honurs for many years.

He lives in Delhi.
