Bishop Cottons defeats St. Joseph’s Indian HS

BANGALORE: Bishop Cottons packed too many guns for St. Joseph’s Indian High School (Briand Square) in the T. Shanmugham memorial inter-school hockey tournament played at the hockey stadium here on Thursday.

Bishop Cottons won 5-1 with Ameen Ahmed (21st, 39th and 45th) logging a treble and Akhil (6th) and Abhishek Kumar (36th) also scoring one apiece. Sumanth (35th) scored for SJIHS (Briand Square).

In another match, St Joseph’s Indian High School beat St. Germain’s 5-1. Ameen Faizal (2nd & 33rd) and Aiyappa (38th & 46th) slotted a brace each with Sumeeth (43rd) rounding off the tally. Noel Francis (47th) scored to St. Germain’s HS.

All St. Joseph’s final

St. Joseph’s Boys HS beat St. Germain’s 3-1 in the first semifinal of the Allan Macbride inter-school hockey tournament here on Thursday.

Tejas Christopher (2nd), C. Denzil (22nd) and Vinay Jain (49th) scored for SJBHS and Dennis Sagayam (14th) scored for St. Germain’s.

In the second semifinal St. Joseph’s Indian Middle School beat Bishop Cottons 5-0 with Mohammed Raheel (13th, 22nd, 24th & 37th) notching up four goals including a hat-trick supported by S.B. Abharan (49th).

In the Tanvi Rao memorial tournament for girls, Bishop Cottons ‘B’ beat St. John’s 3-0. Sarayu (1st), P. Meghana (14th) and Ankita (23rd) scored for the winner.

East in last four

East Zone crafted a 5-2 victory over North Zone to enter the semifinals of the all-India SAI senior hockey tournament here on Thursday. Markus Toppo (2) Lalit Baxla, Ignacius Toppo and Sunil Kujur scored for East Zone. Dharmender (2) scored for North Zone.

In another quarterfinal ABSC (Delhi) beat West Zone 5-1 to make the last four. Chandan Aind (2), Anup Toppo, Binay Bhengra and Rakesh Roshan Ekka (1 each) scored for ABSC (Delhi) and Rahim Niyaz (1) scored for West Zone.
