BANGALORE: Canara Bank is on a roll. The local Bankmen outplayed ASC for a 3-1 verdict for its second straight win in the State Super Division hockey league championship at the SAI South Centre here on Tuesday.
In the other match, Army Red firing from all cylinders also registered an identical 3-1 win downing Karnataka State Police, for its third victory in as many matches.
Versatile Varun Chinappa struck for the bankmen in the 25th minute and Laxman Rao made it 2-0, four minutes into the second half. Though Harpreet Singh did slot in the reducer for ASC in the 40th, Sameer Baxla ensured that there was no more hiccups and sealed the match with a 59th minute strike.
Earlier, Armugham (10th) and Ignus Tirkey (27th and 41st) struck for Army Red while Parmesh (39th) scored KSP’s consolation strike.
While this was KSP’s second defeat, ASC have lost all its three matches thus far.
