The petition – challenging the approval of Haryana government for granting cricketer Joginder Sharma and hockey player Mamta Kharab as deputy superintendent of police (DSP) – was suddenly withdraw on Tuesday. Jatinder Kumar, a national-level boxer, had filed the petition. On Tuesday, he filed an application in the Punjab and Haryana High Court that he does not want to pursue the case any further.

Reprimanding the petitioner for wasting the court’s time, the judge hauled up Jatinder. Jatinder in his petition had asserted that no criterion had been laid down for making the appointments. He blamed that the whole process was carried out in a hurry. Sources said that Jatinder withdrew his petition after as he was posted in the Haryana Police.
