Chandigarh: Hockey star Sandeep Singh on Tuesday exchanged ring with international player Harjinder Kaur and will soon tie the nuptial knot.
A jubilant 23-year-old Sandeep said, “Harjinder and I gel very well. I feel we are made for each other”. Harjinder, who played for Railways, is currently out of action because of a knee injury.
The betrothal ceremony was performed in Sandeep’s hometown Shahbad in Kurukshetra on Tuesday, where the young couple’s parents and family friends were also present. Sandeep has been having a good run recently which includes his impressive performance at the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament.
After Azlan Shah Cup, Sandeep played in the German League for his club Frankenthall, where he was declared best player of the year for North Germany. In early July, he represented his team Air India, which participated in four-nation tournament in Moscow. The other teams were Denmark, Russia and Ukraine.
“We won the Cup in Russia and I was adjudged as player of the tournament after scoring six goals in three matches. In mid-July, I also participated in 9-a-side tournament representing Air India in Malaysia. Club teams from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia among others played in that tournament, which AI won,” he said. PTI
