Avadi defeat Star

Scoring a goal apiece in both halves, HVF Avadi blanked Star of Mackey’s 20 in the Chennai Hockey Association’s first division league at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Tuesday . Saravan scored in the ninth minute while Chandra Sekar raised the lead in the 48th minute.

The match between BSNL Chennai Telephones and Iqbal Recreation club ended in a 2-2 draw. Starting on positive note Iqbal RC were off to 2-0 lead as Sadiq Basha and Joseph scored in the 10th and 14th minutes respectively . However, BSNL narrowed the disparity through Paneer Selvam’s 24th minute strike. Eleven minutes later, he hit the equalizer. Though both sides pressed hard for a winner, none could do make a difference to the score. Results: HVF Avadi 2 (Saravan 9, Chandra Sekar 48) bt Star of Mackey’s 0, BSNL Chennai Telephones 2 (Paneer Selvam 24, 35) bt Iqbal RC 2 (Sadiq Basha 10, Joseph 14).
