Court removes restrain order

Mumbai: The Mumbai Hockey Association’s (MHA) dream of hosting the Bombay Gold Cup got a shot in the arm after the city civil court removed the restrain order it had placed over the 12 members of the managing committee including secretary Kehar Singh.
During the hearing at the court on Monday, the judge did not extend the order passed on April 9, 2009, which restrained the members from entering the premises of the MHA until they filed a reply explaining the reason why they went ahead with organising the Bombay Gold Cup and announced an Extraordinary General meeting on April 11.

The next hearing will now be on April 18. The court has ordered the plaintiffs PS Suljhana and Ranjit Dalvi to submit the original copy of the letter issued by the IOA to MHA. The letter was faxed by the IOA on April 11, withholding the permission it gave to MHA to hold the Gold Cup. The MHA refused to have received any such letter.
“The court has now asked us to submit the original copy to them before the next hearing on April 18,” Suljhana and Dalvi’s lawyer Vijendra Jabra said.
