Delhi Waveriders Gear-up against Mumbai Magicians
New Delhi, 15 January 2013: yesterday’s winners Delhi Waveriders will seek to keep up the tempo as they take on Mumbai Magicians tomorrow.
The Sardar Singh’s narrow 2-1 win yesterday was comforting, but the fact is the team missed many chances, will that now count tomorrow?
Yesterday, drag-flicker Rupinder Pal Singh, handling the responsibility in the absence injured Taekema, failed to convert any of the three penalty corners that the Waveriders had against Warriors, and that’s something the Delhi outfit would need to improve upon.
Their opponents Mumbai Magicians would be keen to make a confident start to their campaign. All eyes would be on Magicians’ top star Sandeep Singh, proven performer at the highest level. The onus would be on him to deliver the goods tomorrow. Magicians’ fortunes in Wednesday’s match, as well as in the tournament, would depend a lot on Sandeep Singh’s form.
Maries also have talented bunch in its ranks like Joel Carroll, Matthew Swann and others.
Indian component in the Magicians rolls — Sarvanjit Singh, Satbir Singh, P T. Rao — will be on focus too.
PR Sreejesh is known to be rock-solid inside the goal, and it would be a challenge for the Waveriders’ attackers to beat Sreejesh on a regular basis.
Magicians coach Ric Charlesworth’s tactical strength will definitely be a plus-point for the Magicians as they taken only team in this competition to have an Indian coach in AK Bansal.
