Every team would be looking to beat Argentina: Gonzalo Peillat

Bhubaneswar: Argentine player and drag-flick expert Gonzalo Peillat says the teams participating in the Hockey World League Finals in Bhubaneswar would be looking forward to beat his team. however, the currently at top spot in the world rankings, will leave no stones unturned against other seven participating countries to maintain their status.

“Now every team will work hard and think about how to beat Argentina. We are number one (in world rankings). Everyone is happy about it. But we still need to do a lot to improve,” said Gonzalo, on his arrival in Bhubaneswar today.

The reigning Olympic gold medallist team has arrived the host city of HWL Finals today.

“We have nine young players. So, it won’t be easy for us as well, ” sounded cautious the drag flick ace

The Argentine are hoping for nothing less than a gold in the tournament. Which is befitting their status of not only the Rio goldies but also top billed team here. The Pan American team now tops the FIH ranking chart.

“For us, the only set target for any tournament is gold. With a fresh team, we will be going step by step,” he said.

Having played earlier in Bhubaneswar during the Hockey India League and Champions Trophy in 2014, Gonzalo feels the crowd will once again make this tournament a memorable one.

“It nice to back in Bhubaneswar. It is going to be a really good tournament for all the teams because this place has a lot of good fans of hockey.”
