Threesome who were part of the 1975 World Cup meet at Chandigarh

In hockey India has won World up Gold Medal only once. It was at Kuala Lumpur in 1975. In Champions Trophy India has won any medal (Bronze) only once. It was at Amsterdam in 1982. On both occasions I was with the Indian teams as chief coach and manager. The photograph shows how Kuala Lumpur meets Amsterdam — recently at Chandigarh.

It was a pleasant surprise to meet the two doctors who looked after those two glorious teams. On my right is Dr. Rajender Kalra, former Medical Superintendent of PGI Chandigarh and on my left is Dr Joginder Jogi, a Germany based NRI. We three recently witnessed SN Vohra – Gurmit Memorial Cup Hockey Tournament at Chandigarh, recently. By bringing out this chance meeting, I wish to tell my fans that I have not forgotten my sincere friends.

Col. Balbir was our coach at Amsterdam, as late Gurcharan Bodhi was at Kuala Lumpur.
