HC asks hockey body to use Sahara logo
12 Feb 2009
NEW DELHI: The Calcutta High Court has advised the ad hoc committee of Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) to use the Sahara logo in ‘all hockey engage
ments featuring the national team on its articles, items, kits and merchandise till February 25 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.’

The HC’s ruling came during hearing of the legal notice served by Sahara’s sports management company, Kolkata-based Leisure Sports Management to the ad-hoc body for breach of contract after the Indian team, which finished runners-up in the Punjab Gold Cup in Chandigarh recently, played without the Sahara logo.

On behalf of Sahara, LSM had entered into an eight-year contract of approximately Rs 20 crore with the erstwhile IHF in 2004 to use the company logo in the senior as well as junior team’s outfit during all international tournaments
