Hindustan Times: Six-day Punjab games from Feb 14
The state sports department will be organising the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Punjab Games from February 14-19, an official spokesperson said on Friday.
The spokesperson said competitions for both men and women will be held in different towns of the state and nearly 9,000 players were expected to take part.
The winning teams will be awarded Rs 15 lakh in each field.
According to the spokesperson, basketball, football, handball, cycling (men and women) competitions will be held in Ludhiana, and Jalandhar will host the hockey (men), badminton and shooting (men and women) events.
Competitions in weightlifting, volleyball, gymnastics and archery (men and women) will be held in Patiala, and boxing, wrestling (Greco and Roman style) and Judo (men and women) in Anandpur Sahib and Rupnagar.
SAS Nagar will host swimming, table tennis (men and women) and hockey (women) competitions, and Sangrur events in kabaddi (national style), athletics and roller skating (men and women).
