Durand Cup

Amity United edged past ARC Shillog on the third day of the Durand Cup qualifiers at the Ambedkar Stadium on Wednesday, going through to the next round after a penalty shootout.

Despite dominating possession throughout the 90 minutes, the Army team could not score against Amity, which defended stoically but rarely got a shot at the ARC goal.

After 90 minutes, the match went into penalties, where mistakes by Shillong’s Meithei and Zuala gave victory to Amity, a team mostly composed of students and amateurs.

“Yes, we were lucky, but we had a few shots at the goal. Now we have to think of our next match,” said Hans Raj, the Amity coach.
