Hockey India (HI) is likely to come out with the final list of affiliated state units by next Monday.
Speaking to Hindustan Times on Thursday, HI president, Ashok Mattoo, said a final decision on the states that have been denied affiliation will also be taken before Monday.
The final list of affiliated states was to be announced on Thursday but Mattoo said the issue of yet-to-be-recognised states, including Jharkhand, Delhi and Punjab, could only be resolved after a final meeting on Monday.
“The list of states affiliated to HI would be announced after a meeting on Monday. A decision on states that have not been given recognition will also be made then.”
Former Indian captain and member of Hockey Punjab, Pargat Singh, had earlier said that the body had forwarded the necessary documents to HI.
“We sent the minutes of our meeting to HI yesterday (Wednesday) and are waiting for an official word on our affiliation status.”
Mattoo confirmed the development and said the documents were being “looked into”.
Delhi, however, is unlikely to sort out its factional divide before Monday.
As reported by Hindustan Times on Wednesday, the appointment of KPS Gill as member of the Delhi ad-hoc committee has annoyed many senior officials of the Delhi District Hockey Association.
Bhupinder Singh, the DDHA senior vice-president had termed it illegal.
However, undeterred by the comments, the members of the ad-hoc committee were confident on Thursday.
“We have not violated any procedure and I do not know why certain sections are creating a furore. We are hopeful of getting the affiliation when the members meet on Monday,” said Amrit Bose, a member of the ad-hoc committee.
