Jagbir Singh: The lanky, artistic striker was born on February 20, 1965 and hails from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. He played as centre-forward for his domestic team Indian Airlines and for India. Played India at Junior internationals including the Junior World Cup before graduating to represent India at Olympics, World Cup, Asian Games and Azlan Shah Cups.
After taking retirement from active hockey, he focussed on radio and television commentating where has become popular. He is also presently Secretary, Air India Sports Promotion Board.
He was awarded Arjuna in 1990.
