Born on 2nd May 1995, Manipur's Nilakanta Sharma is an impact making midfielder cum forward. He came into national fame when playing in various editions of the now defunct Hockey India League.

NILAKANTA SHARMA played in the 2014 & 2015 Sultan of Johor Cup before figuring in the 2015 Jr.Asia Cup and then in the next year was part of the gold winning Jr World Cup team. He made his senior international debut at the 2018 Europe tour and then did not look back. Most important tournament of his brief career was being part of the 2018 World Cup & 2018 Champions Trophy, Sultan Azlan Shah Cup (2018 & 2019).

 

He was first employed with Western Railways, posted in Mumbai. At present, he works for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
