Born on September 26, 1947, Perumal Krishnamurthy hails from Chennai. A famous right-half of his time, he joined Integral Coach Factory (Indian Railways) in Chennai and played the Senior Nationals famous Indian Railways team. Later, he joined the Indian Airlines team. He took part in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics, 1971 World Cup, among many others. He headed Tamil Nadu Hockey Association for about a decade. He was given the prestigious Arjuna in 1971. He lives a quiet life in Chennai nowadays
