Born on 11th July 1990, Haryana's Savita Punia made her senior international debut in 2009. The steely goalkeeper won India many matches, including many shoot-outs. She won the prestigious Arjuna award in 2019, capping a colourful 12 years of International longevity. She had played her 200th match in 2019 as well.

Savita Punia has an impressive participatory record: Figured in the Rio Olympics;  Hockey World League Round thrice (2013, 2015 & 2017; Commonwealth Games in 2014 & 2018; Asia Cup (2013 & 2017); Asian Games (2014 & 2018) and World Cup (2018).

She was also part of the successful Indian team of the 2019 Olympic Qualifying Series.
