India eyeing win to advance
Singapore: After a 2-2 draw against New Zealand, India will have nothing but victory on its mind when it takes on group topper the Netherlands in a Pool D match of the junior hockey World Cup here on Thursday.
The Indian colts started their World Cup campaign in style demolishing co-host Singapore 10-0 before coming up short against the junior ‘Black Sticks’.
India occupies the second position in the group with three points from two outings while the Netherlands is on top with four. A win will secure India a place in the next round of the quadrennial event.
“We are little disappointed with the result against New Zealand. For most part we played in their half. It was sheer bad luck (to only manage a draw),” said coach A.K. Bansal. — PTI
