India lions roar at last, beat Malaysia 3-2

Malaysia’s hope of forcing another draw came near true, but a dodgy Indian defence, despite playing with a man less on account of two successive yellow cards in the last phase of the game, carved out a tight victory here on the fourth day of the Azlan Shah Cup.

India defeated Malaysia 3-2 amidst vociferous home support

This second win after the one against Korea put India owards good finish in the 7-nation tournament.

India has now six points in four matches, and two more matches yet to be played, against Argentina and Pakistan.

The game which drew full house,and was delayed by half an hour due to the delay in other matches, was played on high pitch, each team matching each move.

India put two goals up within first 12 minutes, and then dictated the terms on the turf till lemon time.

Danish Mujafa struck in the ninth minute before Shivender added another one three minutes later.

Five minutes into the second half, Malaysian came back with a bang, converting a penalty corner, and then stepping up the gear.

As the match swung each side with each move, Tushar tapped a waist high ball to whack into the net, and then kissed skywards before accepting the greeting of his relieved mates.
