India will face England in its World Cup opener
India is grouped with The States, traditional rival and reigning Olympic gold medallist England, and Ireland in Group B of the forthcoming London World Cup.
India will meet England in the opener on July 21st next year. If India can manage the toughest encounter, next in the line up is somewhat easy looking Ireland five days later. Ireland is the only team ranked below India’s 10th rank.
The third and last pool encounter will be against another traditional rival The States. The match is scheduled for July 29.
Thereafter Cross Over matches and Quarterfinal will follow.
The London number will have 16 teams spread in four equal pools.
Its an uphill task for India to do well in the World Cup considering its present status of tenth in the world. India missed the last World Cup failing to qualify.
India qualified for the London number after winning Asia Cup recently in Kakamigahara.
