Indian manager fails to turn up in Ipoh

Ipoh (Malaysia), 9 March 2013: In a sudden development Hockey India’s Performance Director Roelant Oltmans has been named manager of the Indian squad that take part in the Azlan Shah Cup.

Hockey India has nominated Shailendra Srivasta of Uttar Pradesh for the job, but surprisingly he could not make it to the city in time.

As per the norms of the tournament, Manager has to attend Tournament Director’s meeting a day before the actual start of the game. India therefore had to nominate someone to meet the crisis.

The the Director of High Performance Coaching, Oltmans will be the
manager of the Indian team for the 22nd edition of the Sultan Azlan
Shah Hockey tournament starting here today.

Hockey India has appointed Sports Secretary Dr. Shailendra Srivastava
as manager of the team. The Uttar Pradesh Sports Department gave
him permission to leave country a couple of days ago, it seems still other formalities would need some more time. According to sources here, he is expected here only on March 12.

Its really poor management as each staff with the team is expected to perform a specific job, and now the Performance Director had to perform the role of manager!
