INVC: India’s hockey stalwarts, take a shot at the Faastest Indian title
In a unique race to identify India’s Faastest man and woman PUMA launched the FAASTEST INDIAN challenge in February 2012. The challenge is being conducted across 7 cities in India, at multiple locations within each city. The winners will be honoured with the title of Faastest Man and Woman in India and will also get an opportunity to meet Usain Bolt at the Prestigious Diamond Meet at Zurich.
The Faastest Indian challenge in Delhi today saw members of the WSH team Sher – e – Punjab, Prabhjot Singh and Gagan Ajit Singh, ex Indian hockey team stalwarts, vying for the title.
“Most sports in India are witnessed on the television, the Puma Faastest Indian challenge is unique in that it invites the average person to participate. The challenge brings a breath of fun and freshness to the sport. It is a great platform to reintroduce people to their sporty, playful side which they might forget in the speed of daily life. And one never knows, maybe I might win the title” said Prabhjot Singh.
The challenge witnessed huge participation across cities including celebrity entries such as Pankaj Advani in Bangalore, Armaan Ebrahim in Pune and Mallika Haydon in Mumbai.
Vagarth Gaurav, 19 years old, is the Faas test Indian so far in the men’s category. He is a state level athlete studying his 1st year BCA in Bangalore. To Vagrath, Faas means Bolt. When asked about the Faas shoes that he ran in, Vagarth said “ The Faas shoes are the most comfortable jogging shoes ever made. They are extremely comfortable and light. I also liked the grip while running and the fancy colours add to the glamour bit of it”.
Nirja Nanavati, 22 years old, working in an IT company, Mumbai, has recorded the Faas test Indian in the women’s category. She believes in running regularly to keep herself fit. She thinks the Faastest Indian campaign is a great concept; especially having it in the IT sectors as well, as it breaks their monotonous routine and gives them a fun filled breather.
The Fastest Time to beat is 25.68 Km / ph for the men’s category and 19.88 Km / ph for the women.
