Indian Oil, Javed Club enter semis

JAVED HOCKEY Club Gojra hammered Rail Coach Factory (RCF) 112 to storm into the semifinal on a better goal average in the Silver Jubilee Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today .
With this win Javed Hockey Club pipped Bharat Petroleum, Mumbai in pool ‘B’ on better goal average to reserve their berth in the semifinal.
In the last match of the league in pool D, defending champion Indian Oil, Mumbai, defeated Crescent Hockey Club, Sargodha, Pakistan, 30 to enter semifinal.
Tomorrow, in the first semifinal, Punjab and Sind Bank, Delhi, will face Air India, Mumbai, while Javed Hockey Club, Gojra, Pakistan, will lock horns with defending champi ons Indian Oil, Mumbai, in the second semifinal.
Javed Hockey Club, Gojra (Pakistan) took lead in the 7th minute of the game when Tariq Aziz scored a field goal.
Khashif Ali increased the lead by converting their first penalty corner in 10th minute.
Trailing by two goals, RCF started their attacks from left flank and managed to reduce the margin through Kuljinder Singh who converted their first penalty corner.
In the 19th minute Ranjodh Singh equalised for the local club but Pakistan team retaliated through a quick brace from Tariq Aziz in the 22nd and 25th minute of the game.
At half time Pak team was leading 52.
Second half game was a one sided affair and Javed Hockey Clubadded six more goals to their tally.
