Jharkhand government to promote hockey

Ranchi: Birth anniversary of Jaipal Singh Munda, who led Indian hockey team to clinch the gold in 1928 Olympics, was celebrated through an exhibition hockey match between the women’s team of Jharkhand XI defeated Orissa XI by 3-1 at Astroturf Stadium on Sunday.

Addressing the players, officials and hockey lovers, Chief Minister Sibu Soren said: “The State Government will take its earnest steps to establish a new training center on Munda’s name to promote the local talents of the State”.

He promised to bring back the golden days of Jharkhand hockey, which has produced several international hockey players.
