Twice running FIH Goalkeeper of the Year (2014 and 2015) and Rising Star in 2012, Joyce Sombroek was aregular for the Netherlands while collecting 117 caps.

Born on September 10, 1990, she made her debut in 2010 and called time on her international career in 2016.

Sombroek won an Olympic gold medal at London 2012 and a silver at Rio 2016.

Those go along with a World Cup gold medal won at The Hague 2014 and silver at Rosario 2010.

Both at London and Rio, she came up trumps in semifinal shootouts (against New Zealand and Germany respectively) to take her team to the final.

Sombroek plays for Mixed Hockey Club, Larem, in the Netherlands.
