Kaushik happy as Physio Dr. Vikas gets an award
Women’s national chief coach MK Kaushik is happy that his tried and trusted physio has got some recognition at last. Vikas has been conferred with ‘Young Achievement Award 2010’ by Indian Association of Physiotherapists yesterday.
“I am very much happy about it”, Kaushik said speaking to stick2hockey.com from Bhopal.
Dr. Vikas Dhawan has been associated with the women’s team since 2004, and was part of the team that posted stupenduous semifinal victory over South Korea in the Bangkok Asia Cup that ensured India a berth in the 2010 World Cup.
Kaushik, an Arjuna and Dronachrya awardee himself, explained: “This award has been given to him for his significant contribution to the profession of Physiotherapy at this young age. He is a hit among the girls, as he takes care of their professional needs in his area of specilization”.
The award was presented to Dr. Vikas during the National Physiotherapy Conference held at Mangalore yesterday.
“Vikas has been instrumental in keeping reliable levels of fitness of the team. We appreciate his involvement and dedication to treat the injuries of players” Kaushik added.
“I strongly feel support staff are very essential for the team’s success on the turf. I wish his achivements gets highlighted. This recognition assures me that we have the best professionals in building up of the team for upcoming World Cup, CWG 2010 and Asian Games”, Kaushik said.
Vikas is presently in Bhopal with the women’s team, received the award at Mangalore Conference yesterday. He will be joining the team today or tomorrow.
