Kerala Hockey Association condoles on the untimely demise sad demise
of A.Rajasekhar,(IG Coast Guard) who was a great sportsman and a State
Player of Hockey in his times.

Brief data of Mr. A.Rajasekhar
Inspector-General A.Rajasekhar, who served as commander of the Eastern
region of the Coast Guard from September 2009 to December 2010, died of
lung cancer at the Military Hospital her on Saturday. He was an avid
sportsman and represented Kerala State in Hockey as Goal keeper at the
national level for the junior and senior teams in seveties.
Rajasekhar, who hailed from Kerala, belonged to the first batch of
Coast Guard officers and joined the force on February 4, 1980. During
his training period, he was the recipient of the Binoculars’ award for
standing first in the merit list. “The entire force was shocked to know
he was affected with lung cancer,” said a senior Coast Guard officer.
He held many important operational and staff appointments during his 31
years of service. Some of them were commander of the Coast Guard’s
western region, director (manpower planning, recruitment and training),
joint director (plans), deputy director-general of Coast Guard at the
headquarters inNew Delhi, chief of staff of regional headquarters
(West) in Mumbai, commander of Coast Guard (Gujarat) and finally
commander of the Eastern region. In addition, he commanded four ships
of the force.
Rajasekhar was awarded the Tatrakshak Medal in August 2004 and
President Tatrakshak Medal in August 2006 for distinguished service.
