Amritsar based hockey enthusiasts are organizing a mock function on Thursday afternoon to send satirical message to the beleagured Indian Hockey Federation Chief KPS Gill. Calling themselves ‘Idiot Club’, one of the resolutions they are going to pass tomorrow is to make KPS Gill life time President of the Indian Hockey Federation in the interest of the players.

“You see. If players go foreign countries they often get injured. After coming back they are unable to spend money on hospitals and their career is finished. If no tour takes place, we can avoid such injuries. If we keep KPS Gill as president we sincerely hope Indian hockey team will not tour at all. Because, everywhere there are problems. Gill is a straight forward man. If there is Olympics we should go and play, and what is this nonsense called qualifier. No straight forward people will like qualifier, kwalifier, all nonsense. So, we will work hard to make him the life time president”, said Rajinder Riki, who calls himself Rajinder Idiot.

Don’t underestimate this man. He has been running the club last 11 years and got it registered in
2004. “Nobody will believe the Idiot Club is registered, so I am giving you the registration No. which is 302” says he.

Interestingly, he contested last parliamentary election as an Independent candidate and got 8645 votes!

According to Rajinder, there is a hardcore group of 25 people who are running the club. They include doctors, lawyers, journalists and even one Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The Idiot Club celebrates new year day on graveyards. Rajinder explains the rationale behind it. ‘We respect our elders when they are alive. After death, how they become ghost, spirit, booth. We are not rationalists or atheist group, just want to be different, that’s all”.
