Voted 2003 FIH Best Player of the Year, Mijntje Donners played 234 times for the Netherlands scoring 97 goals.
She all but won gold during her decade-long international career which began in 1994 and ended after the 2004 Athens Olympic final which the Netherlands lost to Germany 1-2.
Besides that silver medal, Donners, born on February 4, 1974, won Olympic bronze at Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000.
She also possesses two World Cup silver medals won at Utrecht 1998 and Perth 2002.
Throughout her career she played for HC Den Bosch which she helped win 10 Dutch premier league titles in a row, retiring from the sport on that glorious note in 2007.
