Nagpur: Dinanath High School playing their first match of the meet defeated Royal Gondwana Public School 2-0 while Ramesh Chandak English School drubbed South Point School, Omkar Nagar 5-0 in their last league match of the Under-14 Inter-school VHA Hockey League played at the Hislop College ground here on Thursday.

After a barren first half, players of Dinanath High School played attackingly in later part of game to outplay their pint-sized rivals from Royal Gondwana. Dinanath got into the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to a silly mistake on part of rival defender.

Dinanath skipper Pankaj Yadav passed the ball from the right corner inside the penalty area. Though Gondwana defender Manthan Dharpure stopped the ball he failed to keep the possession. Searching for an equaliser, Gondwana Public School went into all-out attacking mode and all the players converged on the forward line. But the Dinanath team benefited from the move as they utilised the open defence and scored the second goal in the 29th minute. Rohan Ghumde in his solo effort dribbled the ball past the thin defence line to make it 2-0.

Ramesh Chandak English High School got the better of South Point School in an one-sided battle. A brace each by Rohit Gaidhane and Siddhesh Sathe helped Ramesh Chandak English School register a facile 5-0 win and take their tally to six points from three outings.

Tejas Batra drew the first blood in the 16th minute making good use of Raj Ambulkar’s left side pass. Chandak School led 1-0 till the breather.

After the change of ends, Rohit scored his goals in the 29th and 35th minute while Siddhesh banged the target in the 30th and 32nd minute.
