Al-Ameen College starts Nehru-SAIL Champions Colleges Cup campaign in style

Bangalore based Al-Ameen College started its Nehru –SAIL Champions Colleges Cup in style, beating St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata 7-0.

The 19th edition of the prestigious college tournament – Zonal winners of Inter-University Championship participate – got off to a brilliant start with the immaculate display from the team from Southern part of India.

The goal reign was started in the 12th minute by Bijju, within a minute JP Kusha added another one.

By the time the lemon time approached, the Al-Ameen were sitting pretty with five goals in their kitty, while their rivals looked jaded though did not give up the fighting.
DS Dharsan in the 25th minute and Honnur Swamy (31st min) played a big role for the comfortable break time scoreline.

On resumption Naveen Kumar scored his second goal while entered his name in the scoreboard 14 minutes from the hooter (7-0).

The team from Kolkata thereafter stood firm, did not allow rival forwards to puncture their citadel, though it was too late and too little.

Earlier in the day, Narinder Batra, Secretary General of Hockey India inaugurated the week- long colleges mela.
