On the eve of State Hockey Associations’ meeting tomorrow in New Delhi, the convenor of the meeting, JB Roy appeared belligerent while speaking to stick2hockey.com
“Its almost a year over since the adhoc committee was formed. No action has been taken to conduct the Indian Hockey Federation Election. We want, at any case, to restore the IHF. Yes, we are gathering here to ask the IOA and others concerned what prevents them from conducting the (IHF)Election?”, JB Roy, who is also the president of the Bengal Hockey Association, thundered.
On specifically asked what are the agenda in the proposed meeting, he retorted: “Election, and nothing else”.
JB Roy, brother of Sahara scion Subrato Roy, is tipped to be the SHAs’ choice for the IHF President.
However, elaborating on the issue of IHF President, he said:”One among the 28 people assembled here will be the president’s choice.”
He further said that 28 SHAs are attending the meeting. “In addition, four SHAs have committed to support us whenever the situation arrives. We will also approach 3 or 4 government controlled bodies, who have vote in the election, in our support. Yes’ one of us will be president contestant”, he said.
According to sources, president or secretary of 26-28 SHAs will deliberate various issues of hockey, in particular, its election. The scheduled meeting will take place after lunch. The press has also been invited for an interactive session in the afternoon.
