PAK Coach: As a player I hardly lost to India

Every successful player wants to be a successful coach also. It happened to some, otherwise to many. The lion-hearted defender Rana Mujahid of Pakistan wants to be among the few who shone on both roles.

Rana Mujahid, Pakistan colts’ coach for the Sultan of Johor Cup, feels he can continue his career record against India to his coaching spell too.

“As a player I hardly lost to India. May be tomorrow insha allah my boys too carry over my personal legacy,” he said on asked about the prospects of his team against India.
On Tuesday, Johor Bahru’s Taman Daya turf will witness first ever India-Pak clash since he took over junior national team coaching in April this year.

“Except the South Asian Federation Games in Chennai, I hardly remember anytime we, Pakistan, lost to

India as long as I was part of the tem ”, he recollected.
Rana was the bulwark defender of Pakistan team in the late 80s to mid 90s. He is also Beijing Asiad gold medallist.

He has taken over the junior coaching in April this year.
Like many other teams in the tournoament here, Pakistan too under-prepared team. However, they had the benefit of playing a foreign team I the past.

Pakistan had a four-match series against Egypt in July, and that was the sole preparation for Pakistan team here. During the Egypt tour, Pak boys lost once drew once while posting two victories.

However, most of the boys in that tour are here.

Pakistan juniors who lost to both Korea and New Zealand on narrow margin here, is currently second in Asian hierchy after losing to Korea in Singapore in the Junior Asia Cup 2011.
Rana took over the team after this.
