New Delhi: “In the name of affiliation, I was humiliated for ten days” rued Pargat Singh today speaking to journalists here in Punjab Bhawan.
“I wanted to contribute, my State Punjab wanted to contribute. We want affiliation to Hockey India, but what I got was utter humiliation”, the veteran of 300 caps said.
“I was asked to come down to Delhi daily for almost ten days, and was dragged to floor after floor, forced to deal with small small chamches’ of Kalmadi”.
“I was not asked anything about hockey, but only some comma is not here, not there like that.”
“I was asked to openly support Suresh Kalmadi as the president of Hockey India if my State is to be given affiliation. I told I am interested in hockey, not in others. If there is a bargain, I will not take it, instead I will take on Kalmadi on this”, the Olympic captain asserted.
This is first time a player and also a member of the electoral college of Hockey India, has openly came against Suresh Kalmadi, though in the know-how always dounted the the dubious role of Suresh Kalmadi.
Asked to name the people who acutally humiliated, he refused to take names, but hastned to add:, “Will reveal their name in appropriate time”. Kalmadi has put chamches every where, they are only faces, the actual man who holds the string is Kalmadi only.
“Am against anybody who is against hockey. In the last two years, what we have seen on hockey is making mockery of the sport”, agitated Pargat explained further.
He also called upon former players to play a positive role. “They should not just keep complaining. Whatever there are today, it was because of hockey. Am whatever today, all because of the sport. We all have a duty to support hockey also”.
Pargat Singh is Secretary of Hockey Punjab, has a vote in the election. His bold outbursts and timing, conclude many, points to the fact that he commands respect of electoral college and stands a good chance of projecting himself for a strong post.
FOR THE SAKE OF INDIAN HOCKEY -FORGET EVERYTHING .WE LOVE YOU .WE RESPECT YOU .
forget hockey also, for the sake of hockey.
We have watched in horror the developments of the last few weeks, please…the whole world is watching so let us put our best on display. Yes ther are lots of things that need to be righted and they SHOULD and we all support such a move, but let us do so with poise and degnity.
Surely the it is now time to get behind the team a 100 percent and assist them in their prepration; veterans, historians, students of the game should all come together to feed important information about other teams, work on any past weakness that may have been spotted by a keen eye so that we can win the W.C. That should be the only thought and goal
at this vital junction. Will not get a better chance than this so wake up India and all the best. Many thanks to the tireless work of S2H to keep us abrest with the latest.
