WORLD CUP HERO ASLAM SHER KHAN ON ELECTION MODE AND GEAR
India is the world’s biggest democracy. Now the country is on election mode. Can sports be far behind? About five former cricket stars are in the election fray, representing almost all national parties such Indian National Congress (Former cricket captain Md. Azaruddin), Bharatiya Janata Party (Navjot Singh and Chauhan) and Bahujan Samaj Party (Chetan Sharma).
Hockey has a lone representation. Former Member of Parliament Aslam Sher Khan, our 1975 World Cup hero, is contesting from Sagar constituency in Madhya Pradesh. Picture shows him in the election attire. He represents Congress whose ticket he won the election twice in the past in the same State.
India is a secular country by constitution and practice. In a proof of that, Aslam Sher Khan, a Muslim by birth, is seen in the image worshipping a Hindu God.
