Azlan Shah debacle report to be submitted on May 23
India’s chief coach Harendra Singh and manager Balbir Singh are set to submit a detailed report to Hockey India on May 23 on the team’s disastrous performance in the just-concluded Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.
India, who emerged champions in 2009 and joint champions in 2010, finished a lowly sixth out of seven teams in this year’s Azlan Shah Cup, which was won by world champions Australia.
Concerned by the lacklustre display, HI was forced to convene a meeting of its coaching and development committee on May 31, where the reports of both the coach and manager will be thoroughly reviewed.
“I will be submitting my report to Hockey India on May 23. Before that I won’t like to speak anything on the team’s performance,” chief coach Harendra told PTI.
“On May 31 there is a meeting where the team’s performance will be studied. So, I won’t like to disclose any aspects of my report before that,” he insisted.
Team manager Balbir also said that he will talk to the media only after submitting his report to the federation.
“I am in the final stages of preparing my report which I have to submit by May 23,” he said.
