Pune: Mumbai Hockey Academy (MHA) derailed Central Railway, Pune Division, 2-1 and enter the semifinals in the senior division of the Aga Khan Cup hockey tournament at PCMC stadium on Friday.
Earlier in the other quarterfinal encounters, Central Railway (Bhusaval) beat Pune City Police 1-0 while Pune Railway Police defeated Khalsa Club (Nanded) 3-1 and Vikram Pillay Academy routed National Defence Academy (NDA) 5-0.
CR, Pune, drew the first blood in the 31st minute through centre forward Vineet Nimal off a pass from Akhilesh Singh. However, their joy was short lived. Mumbai players hit back and equalised in the 40th minute through Suresh Singh off a penalty corner. The winning goal came in the 45th minute through Victo Singh from a Bunn D’Souza pass.
Inside-right Rajneler Nagnoos’ solitary goal helped Central Railway, Bhusaval beat Pune City Police. The allimportant goal came in the third minute from penalty corner.
S. N. Bhosale Public school ‘A’ and St Anne’s school stormed into the finals of the
inter-school boys’ and girls’ section, respectively.
