SAS 2008: Will India erase the blemish?

SAS 2008: Will India erase the blemish?

Share

A blemish record of sorts persists for India in the Azlan Shah hockey.

India has not defeated or drawn Pakistan in the last sixteen years, though they have not met as frequently as sports lovers would have expected them to be.

In other words India has never defeated Pakistan as long as KPS Gill ruled Indian hockey and that was fairly a long spell (June 1994 to March 2008).

India last defeated Pakistan when Manager here Pargat Singh led India in 1991. Wily winger Mukesh Kumar’s lone goal gave that win 17 years ago. After that India played Pakistan four times but went down by a single goal margin in all the encounters. Will Sardara Singh’s India erase the blemish remains to be seen today.

India will take on Pakistan today at IST 13.30 hrs, the first of three matches scheduled for Day VI, the penultimate day of the league matches.

ESPN will telecast the match live
