Satinder Kumar of India becomes the First Indian hockey umpire to receive the FIH Golden Whistle.

Satinder umpired his 100th International at the ongoing World Cup Qualifier in Invercargill, New Zealand yesterday.

Satinder umpired his first International match on 2 June 2000; soon after gaining his International Grade 1 Umpire on 20 April 2001.

He continued to impress and was selected on the World Panel in 2002.
Satinder Kumar becomes the 29th Male Umpire to receive a Golden Whistle and the first Indian umpire to do so.

His career highlights are as follows:

Two Olympic Games: Athens (GRE) 2004 and Beijing (CHN) 2008

Two World Cups: Kuala Lumpur (MAS) 2002 and Monchengladbach (GER) 2006

Five Champions Trophies: Cologne (GER) 2002; Chennai (IND) 2005; Terrassa (ESP) 2006; Kuala Lumpur (MAS) and Rotterdam (NED) 2008
