Deserving South Africa won the Delhi Olympic Qualifier final, and booked ticket to London. The champions did not allow any elbow room in any time of the match to the hosts.

A faulty clearance by India early in the proceedings gave the visitors to go up. Midway through the first half, Pietie Coetzee converted team’s second penalty corner – a grounder to the middle of the cage – to enhance the lead.

After change over, the momentum was not let down. African converted another penalty corner to go up (3-0).

India answered through Jaspreet Kaur in the 55th minute, converting second half’s first penalty corner, over all the team’s second.

Africans were very precise with their upward moment, with the aid of well-trained carpet passes and single touch clearances.

India had their chances midway through the first half, when its left flank functioned well and created a series of penetration. The forwards were sluggish and loath to make use of these surges and shots that sent the ball to the danger area.

On the other hand, the Africans were not only arithmatic in the approach, but also geometric in availing the chances.

From the 3rd minute onwards when they scored the first goal, there was no doubt as to the winners.

congrats Africa.
