Spain’s Canoeing Champions signs contracts with SAI, in Singapore now

Spain’s Kayaking and Canoeing Champion Jesus Garcia Pallares, 27, signed contract with Sports Authority of India to be the fitness person of the Indian men’s hockey team.

Lanky Pallarres signed the contract a couple of days ago, and then accompanied Jose Brasa to Pune to join him in inspecting arrangements for the national camp. He and Brasa reached Singapore this morning (Sunday) to be able to witness the Junior World cup.

Pallares is himself an athlete having won many laurels in water sport.

He hails from Morcia province of Spain, where he also worked with club level hockey teams.

Pallares holds a degree in Physical Education

According to the contract, Pallares will be looking after team’s fitness program, contract is presently upto November 2010, with the option of extending it to the end of 2012 Asian Games.

It is learnt that Indian senior team camp will be held in Pune from midway through June and will last upto November. In essence, Pune will see India’s preparation for the Champions Challenge to be held in Argentina in December this year.

“I was told the turfs in Delhi will be ready by this year end. Once ready, we will shift our camp to Delhi”, national coach Jose Brasa said.

    Bringing Brasa who trained women hockey players who never achieved much than Rick who achieved 5 times more … is ok.. But bringing a canoe expert with physical education background is like changing the ring master’s of animals in circus…. Are their no physical trainers in India? These SAI babus want only foriegners.. Once again racing back and depending on pre-independence state where you want the white man to rule you… The SAI officials are now playing the role of those Kings dating back to pre-independence. When US & UK depends on our docs and engineers why dont we have confidence on our own Indians who have brought the players to such a stage?
