Government degree college Varmul in final
Inter college hockey tournament
Srinagar, Sept 16: Government degree college (GDC) Varmul has booked its place in the final of the inter college hockey tournament by defeating government physical college Ganderbal in the semi-final played at Kashmir University Ground on Tuesday.
A quarterfinal and a semi-final match was played in the tournament on Tuesday.
The first match of the day was the quarterfinal encounter between SP college and SSM college Pattan. SP college won the match by 4-0 goals. In first half SP college scored a goal through Faheem. In second half, Supinder Singh scored back-to-back three goals for SP college thus scoring the first hat trick of the tournament.
The second match of the day was semi-final match between GDC Varmul and physical college Ganderbal. In the match GDC Varmul thrashed physical college in a one sided encounter by 6-0 goals. Jagmeet, Vikram, Ramandeep, Akash Deep, Maninder Pal and Javaid were the goal scorers.
With this win, GDC Varmul booked its place in the final of the tournament. In the final, the team will clash with the winner of the semi-final clash between SP College and GDC Islamabad scheduled to be played on Wednesday.
The tournament is being organised by directorate of physical education and sports department of University.
