Varmul lifts U-14, U-17 title

Inter district hockey tourney

Srinagar, Sept 17: In the ongoing inter-district hockey tournament played at Polo Ground here, Varmul lifted the under-14 and 17 titles.

The day began with the final of Under-14 category in which Varmul was against Srinagar. Varmul won the match by 4-0 goals and lifted the title. After the under-14 final, the under-17 final match was played. In the final, Varmul defeated Budgam by 5-1 goals and lifted the title. For winning team Navjeet Singh scored the hatrick.

In under-19 category, Varmul and Srinagar won their respective matches and booked places in final. In the Under-19 category only three teams Srinagar, Varmul and Budgam were competing.

In league phase Budgam lost against both Varmul and Srinagar. The final match between Srinagar and Varmul would be played on Thursday. The tournament is being organised department of youth services and sports.
