SAIL incentives for Team India

New Delhi, Feb. 26: The Steel Authority of India on Friday announced performance-based rewards for the Indian hockey team during different stages of the 12th Hockey World Cup starting at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Sunday.

Sail, the presenting partner of the Hockey World Cup, will award Rs 1 crores to the Indian team if they win the tournament, while for reaching finals, Rs 50 lakhs will be given to the team. For winning bronze, the reward will be Rs 25 lakhs.

Sail is also presenting a ‘Man of Steel’ as the Best Defender award in all the matches of the tournament. The award carries a trophy and a cash reward.

Speaking at a photo session with the captains of the 12 teams participating in the quadrennial event, Union Minister for Steel Virbhadra Singh made this announcement. The programme was also attended by Union Minister of State for Steel, A. Sai Prathap and Sail chairman S.K. Roongta.
