Annamalai downs Khalsa College

NEW DELHI: A goal each from M. Iyappan and B. Laxman Karan helped Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, beat Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, Ludhiana, in a group ‘C’ league match of the SAIL 17th Nehru Champion Colleges hockey tournament at the MP State Women’s Hockey Academy, Kampoo, Gwalior, on Tuesday.

In group ‘B’ Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, hanidgarh, recorded a 5-1 victory over MG Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, after leading 2-0 at halftime. Ameet Bhargav (2), Rupinder Pal Singh, Harinder Singh and Preetinder Singh scored the goals for the Chandigarh team. Mohammed Javed Ali scored the only goal for the Varanasi team.

In group ‘D’, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, beat Municipal College, Rourkela, 5-0. Jasjit Singh (2), Jaskaran Singh, Gagandeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh scored the goals. — Special Correspondent
