Deadlock continues

Special Correspondent

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is expected to give the Hockey India (HI) and the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) a week’s time to decide on the future course of action in their process to come up with a unified body to run hockey affairs in the country.

The FIH had been involved in bringing the two bodies together even though it continued to recognise HI. FIH president Leandro Negre and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kelly Fairweather met officials from HI and the IHF here over the last two days but their talks remained inconclusive.

A move to form a six-member committee to explore the possibilities of moving ahead also fell through with the IHF insisting on official recognition for the World Series Hockey (WSH), the first edition of which was held recently. The FIH has steadfastly stuck to its stand that the WSH remained an “unsanctioned” event.
