HAL posts win

Madikeri: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore, notched up its second successive win in the Super Division hockey league championship here on Sunday defeating Central Excise, Bangalore 4-2.

Aiyappa (60th, 62nd) scored a brace for the HAL. Other scores were Abhinav Ganapathi (19th) and Mohammad Nayeem (22nd).

For the losers, Ajaya Aiyappa got the first goal of the game in the fifth minute of the match while Mandanna reduced the margin in the 69th minute.

In the first match played, Sports Authority of India drew with MEG 2-2. Cariappa (42nd) and Ashok Kumar (63rd) scored for SAI while Poovanna (15th) and Shayan (67th) struck for the MEG, both through penalty corners.

In the second match of the day, Army Green scraped past ASC, Bangalore by a solitary goal scored off the stick of Suresh in the 49th minute of the game.
