BANGALORE: HMT held the nerve in the tie-breaker and beat BEML 4-3 in the first semifinal of the BCYA State-level hockey tournament held here on Thursday. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of full-time.
BEML took the lead in the 50th minute with Kalappa’s goal, but HMT struck back through Keerthi in the 57th minute. In the tie-breaker, Somanna, Aditya and Gopal scored for HMT while only Bidappa and Naresh could find the mark for BEML.
In the other semifinal, Vidyaranyapura defeated DYSS 4-3. Sandeep Michael scored a brace for Vidyaranyapura while the other scorers were Vinay Kumar and Palani Kumar. For DYSS, Sudhakar, Chengappa and Sahadev reduced the margin. The final will be played on Friday. — Special Correspondent
