NEW DELHI: Lovedeep Singh scored the match-winner in the third minute with a penalty corner strike as Springdales Senior Secondary School, Amritsar, beat Army Boys Sports Company, Bihar Regimental Centre, Danapur, 1-0 in a superleague match of the ONGC 27th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Markandeshwar Stadium, Shahabad, on Monday.
Springdales qualified for the semifinals and will clash against Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Senior Secondary School, Khadoor Sahib. The Punjab team from Khadoor Sahib scored a 2-0 win over Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Model Gram, Ludhiana, in its last league match, thanks to the goals from Sukhdev Singh and Navraj Singh.

In the other semifinal, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar will take on St. Mary’s High School, Simdega, Jharkhand.
The Jalandhar team eased into the semifinals with a 6-1 victory over Chhotu Ram Zamindar Senior Secondary School, Sonepat, in the last superleague match. Skipper Mandeep Singh (3), Lovepreet Singh, Harjit Singh and Baljeet Singh found the target for the winner. Vikram reduced the margin for the Sonepat team.
St. Mary’s High School qualified despite a 1-1 draw against Birsamunda Vidyapith, Rourkela, in the last match. Joseph Toppo put the Rourkela team ahead in the 11th minute, and Sandeep Sanga found the equaliser for the Jharkhand team in the 54th minute.
